With a great ambition, the 26th king of Baekje King Seong transferred the capital to the prosperous and beautiful Sabi (Buyeo). For 123 years, the city built up the national strength and actively engaged in diplomatic activities, blossoming the ancient culture. It’s the city of history and culture with deeply rooted spirit of foliar piety and entrepreneurship

  • Baekje : Six kings (26th king King Seong; 16 years – 31st king King Uija; 20 years), reigned for 123 years (AD 538-660)
  • Unified Silla : Establishment of commandery (2 guns, 2 hyeons)
  • Goryeo : Establishment of administrators (4 hyeons – Buyeo, Garim, Seokeong, Hongsan)
  • Joseon : 1 gun, 3 hyeons (gun : Imcheon; hyeon: Buyeo, Hongsan, Seokseong)
  • Japanese colonial era : March 1, 1914 : Consolidated as Buyeo-gun (16 myeons)
  • Republic of Korea : January 1, 1960: Became Buyeo-eup (1 eup, 15 myeons)
